To reflect on the thematic one of the feminine autonomy in this direction is necessary in the world of today, over all in the formation of the health professional. The objective of this study consisted of desvelar the factors that take the choice of the type of childbirth for the woman: natural and or Caesarean, and the importance of the assistance of nursing in this process of choice. The research was carried through at two moments: initially in books and some sites of the Internet for confection of the theoretical referencial, and later for collection of the data for it saw electronics, in the database Scielo Brazil, getting articles (of 2002 the 2010), related to the following thematic areas: normal childbirth + Caesarean childbirth + assistance of nursing to the woman in labor. The research not it implied in procedures that required ethical standards. Of these articles a qualitative and quantitative analysis was made so that they tried to answer the problematic one of the research.
